Right now, he's a bit preoccupied with being kissed.
Cain's frozen up; he can feel his cheeks heating, red creeping all the way to his ears. He'd definitely intended a less realistic sort of blending in, but it seems like Vane's got his own ideas and taken matters into his own hands.
There's no time to correct him; he can hear the men moving through the room, even if he's currently a bit too shell shocked to try for some angle that'll let him see them. And he can't waste Vane's efforts, however startling they are.
With only a slight hesitation to betray how off-balance Cain is, he brings an arm up to grasp Vane's shirt, the picture of an eager lover as Vane kisses him — as he responds, to keep their cover intact, mouth working softly against Vane's.
He's a bit out of breath when the men finally leave. Gently, he pushes Vane away, still blushing. ]
[ despite being the one who had originally initiated contact, vane can't deny the swell of sheepishness that seems to seep in. and akin to that concept, despite being pretty forward and not really holding back, there's an acute pause that settles in soon after. maybe even dread? like ... did he do good? bad? especially, as he almost seems stunned at his own actions, but as cain reaches up to hold onto the cloth of his shirt...
vane feels ever more resolved. his hand is steady as it grips onto the back of cain's neck. it's automatic. maybe even intrinsic as he doesn't find it wise to pull away immediately. then, when he feels cain push him, he nearly has to force himself to break contact.
after a while, he laughs uneasily. ] Ha... hahaha. They went straight past us, it looks like. [ vane is also a bit flushed, but he seems to be doing his best to keep it together. especially as he reaches over to give cain's wrist a small tug. ]
... my bad. [ he doesn't actually know what he did wrong, but he feels he should take some... responsibility!?!? ]
[ Is fine even the word he wants here? He just got kissed, and his brain is still halfway to short-circuited. This is usually not something he has to deal with on missions — but he can tell that his surprise is making Vane uncomfortable, and more than that, they're still in what could technically be considered enemy territory. There's no time to stop and act like a delicate maiden flower who's never been kissed before.
He clears his throat and pastes on a grin, cocksure even if he's not feeling it. The tug to his wrist has his brain kicking back into gear — thanks, Vane! — and he turns to the now-clear path to the door. ]

"now's our chance." with this, he gives cain's wrist, which he still has hold over, a firm squeeze...
before... literally lifting him off his feet. while it might have looked a bit more out of place, well... cain still looked a bit shaken and he thought this was easier? chances are he's probably wrong and he's likely jumped the gun as he often does, but ...
in theory, someone only can get it wrong so many times, right? ]
[ A whisper it may be, but they're close enough that Cain picks up on it. "Thank you very much," huh? His lips quirk. He's about to offer a quick "you're welcome," but... Well. He gets distracted.
By being literally lifted right off his feet. Instead, Cain goes with a squawk of surprise and quickly makes a grab for Vane's shirt to balance himself. He doesn't try to wriggle out of the hold, though, no matter how undignified being thrown over Vane's shoulder like a sack of potatoes may be. Right now, speed is of the essence in making their escape. So... he'll just have to go with this, right?
He laughs a little breathlessly and tugs at Vane's shirt. ]
[ that noise is admittedly pretty funny, and vane seems to give a small touch of a laugh as he takes off. unsurprisingly, cain is pretty light. maybe even lighter than lancelot? this seems to be a debate in vane's mind for some stretch of their journey. until finally, they make it outside of the venue.

If so, I propose we pick up some snacks on our way out! [ ... or maybe a disguise if they don't plan to leave the area entirely. ]

Well, Vane does have clear-cut priorities. He can't fault that. Vane got them out of there, after all, even if he's still carrying Cain around like luggage. At least it's not a princess carry...
As if to reward the lack of a princess carry, Cain pats the back of Vane's head. ]

if cain was giving him an out or justification, he'd take it. ] There's not much you can do on a empty stomach, right? Besides, I have a feeling if we didn't eat, my stomach would be loud enough for us to be found anyway. [ he laughs like this is a joke, but is it really? ]
Then we'd better be sure to grab some food soon. Wouldn't want your stomach to give us away.

No, far better to stop on the way, take a minute out of their escape, and make sure Vane's stomach is full.
